    Kara L McCall is a partner in Sidley's Chicago office. Kara focuses her practice on the defence of companies in class action litigation, product liability and mass torts, and commercial litigation and disputes matters. She regularly defends food, beverage, nutritional supplement and construction products in class action litigation arising out of alleged mislabelling or other deceptive trade practices. Kara is also experienced in defending companies facing personal injury, wrongful death and property damage lawsuits arising out of fires, explosions, train derailments and other crises. She is actively involved in the representation of life sciences companies, including pharmaceutical drugs and medical devices, and she has successfully participated in the defence of pharmaceutical manufacturing companies in class actions and multi-district proceedings. Kara has also helped companies deal with 'battle of the form' issues and other contractual issues relating to indemnity, warranties and limitations on liability or damages. She works closely with Sidley's regulatory lawyers to harness knowledge of the regulatory and litigation issues facing manufacturers of regulated products such as foods, beverages and supplements. Kara's leadership has earned her recognition by Chambers USA, Who's Who Legal, Law360, The National Law Journal, The Legal 500 US and Daily Journal.

    Elizabeth M Chiarello is a partner in Sidley's Chicago office. Beth focuses her practice on the defence of companies in class action, product liability, mass tort and other complex litigation matters. She has successfully defended cases on behalf of Fortune 500 companies in a variety of industries, including foods, nutritional supplements, cosmetics, medical device and device sterilisation, pharmaceutical, electronics, financial services and transportation. She has served as national coordinating counsel in a variety of putative nationwide class actions and mass tort lawsuits filed in federal and state courts across the country. Beth has significant trial experience and has worked all stages of class and products liability litigation, including motions to dismiss, summary judgment, all facets of discovery (including international discovery issues), Daubert motions, motions for class certification and interlocutory and other appeals. When settlement is appropriate, Beth has also helped clients negotiate nationwide class action settlements, and has successfully defended contested and uncontested class action settlements in state and federal courts. Beth is a frequent speaker at acclaimed legal conferences with a focus on foods, beverages, supplements and cosmetics, and she has been recognised by Law Bulletin's Leading Lawyers, The Legal 500 US and Lawyers for Civil Justice.
