Antonia Stolper is of counsel in Shearman & Sterling LLP’s Latin America and Caribbean affinity group, and capital markets-Americas practice group following her retirement as a partner of Shearman of 25 years at the end of 2020. Antonia represents Latin American corporate and sovereign issuers and their underwriters in debt and equity securities offerings and issuers, dealer managers and creditors on restructuring transactions in Latin America. In addition, she advises a number of Latin American issuers on their ongoing SEC reporting requirements and corporate governance matters. Among many transactions, she advised the dealer managers in the approximately US$68 billion restructuring of Argentina’s foreign law debt and represented the Province of Córdoba in its foreign debt restructuring. She was part of the Shearman & Sterling teams representing The Nature Conservancy in the groundbreaking debt-for-nature swaps for the Republic of Belize that closed in November 2021 and Barbados that closed in September 2022. She is vice chair for Latin America for the Cyrus R Vance Center for International Justice Initiatives of the New York City Bar Association, promoting pro bono initiatives in the Americas and the advancement of women in the legal profession.

Robert O’Leary is counsel in the project development and finance practice of Shearman & Sterling LLP. With a focus on Latin America, Robert regularly advises on a variety of domestic and international project development, limited recourse, corporate and acquisition financing transactions in the energy, infrastructure and natural resources sectors. Robert advises some of the key development banks active in the region, as well as large corporates, on their Latin American project and structured financing transactions. Robert’s practice has a diverse geographic reach across the region – from the Southern Cone to Mexico, including Argentina, Chile, Mexico, Guatemala, Panama, Nicaragua, the Dominican Republic and El Salvador – as well as a varied scope across the energy, infrastructure and mining industries. Recent notable transactions include advising the lenders on a US$120 million secured facility to refinance a 50MW wind farm project in the Dominican Republic, and representing the sponsors on a US$128 million limited recourse project financing for the acquisition, development, conversion and operation of a floating storage and regasification unit moored at the port of Acajutla, El Salvador.
